Patient Safety and Quality of Care
The clinic is ISO 9001 certified. This international quality label indicates that we use a quality management system that systematically monitors, manages and improves our processes and procedures. But ISO is just one of the many ways in which we safeguard our patients’ safety and the quality of our care. A few other examples:
- Annual external audits by a hospital hygienist and a supervisory pharmacist
- Periodic satisfaction surveys among patients and referrers
- Our own custom electronic patient record (EPR)
- Tracking and analysis of complications and their causes
All our medical staff are registered with the BIG register, the Dutch national register of professional healthcare workers. Our ophthalmologists are additionally registered as medical specialists with the Dutch federation of doctors, KNMG. Our ophthalmologists and optometrists are members of several ophthalmological organizations such as the Special Interest Group for Ocular Tissue Transplantation (SIGOTT), the Dutch Ophthalmology Society (NOG), the Dutch Association of Optometrists (OVN), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
It goes without saying that all of our procedures meet the full international guidelines of these ophthalmological organizations.
